Cancellations from you

A 10% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation.

Cancellations made outside of 30 days from your tour date are without any further charges.
Cancellations made between 15 and 30 days from your tour date will be charged 50% of your balance due.
Cancellations made less than 15 days from your tour date will be charged the entire balance.

Unfortunately, the small nature of my business makes me extremely vulnerable to any cancellations.
As always, I encourage you to obtain appropriate travel insurance that protects you in the event of travel plan changes and cancellations, especially as governments continue to try to find their tolerance between overrun healthcare systems, case counting, and economic carnage.

If you need to cancel, just shoot me a quick reply from our email correspondence, or through the contact form on my site here.

Cancellations from me

In rare circumstances of extreme weather - something along the lines of heavy freezing rain or significant recent snowfall where travel will become too dangerous, or extreme sickness to myself (or my car - mechanical issues aren’t fun for anyone) I may need to cancel our tour.

While I don’t cancel because of the extreme cold, temperatures around -40° can give some trouble to vehicles (and everything else) obviously.

This is my full-time career, so while cancelling is obviously never preferred, safety always remains my priority.

Challenging weather forecasts

When we connect in the afternoon or early evening of your tour day, I will include details about the weather for the night if it looks complicated. We’ll make a plan that feels best to us, even if that means cancelling our trip because the weather leaves us genuinely little chance of seeing the aurora.

Cloudy nights are hard, of course, especially when they occur unexpectedly. However, I’ll always be honest and transparent with you and do my best to set us up for success.
Despite that, a breakup of cloud, even momentarily, can lead to spectacular viewing and photography opportunities when you see the aurora tower over or through scattered cloud. It's a whole new perspective to something so grand and otherworldly. Sometimes all we need is the smallest break in cloud.
