a few hours after u.s. customs chatted ever so socially and… how can i put this… ever so warmly about my eight hour visit to seattle at the border, i took maybe three steps off the bus before i looked up and saw nicole haley waving with a warm smile on her face. we hugged like we’d known one another for a lot longer than 3.4 seconds, and she introduced me to her very nice husband, eric and off we were exploring seattle for the day. we ate crepes. nutella & strawberry crepes, i will add. we ate mini-doughnuts. fresh cherries. iced coffee… and the list carries on. it was one of the fastest passing and most memorable day trips i’ve made in some time. i loved it immensely, and guys, it was a treat to have the opportunity to meet you seeing as we’re from opposite coasts in different countries. i just sort of wish we’d remembered to take more than six photos… i took five, and she has one of us together ;)

and right after i tweeted that i didn’t feel like taking a photo… i gave in and did…

now if you’ll excuse me, i’ve just gotten home from work and i have 3 hours & 40 minutes before my alarm goes off to sleep – so good night!

Renee - It’s comforting to know that US customs are just as affable in Seattle as Niagara Falls. Last time I had to pull over to show my IKEA purchases because as the agent put it, “You don’t have furniture stores in Rochester?” sigh…
And I love this set :)
Jennifer Brotchie - So Jealous of everything you ate… wish I was there…
ericha - Haha I do that all the time! I sometimes regret not taking photos but you still always have your mental “camera” with you and that’s the important thing! :) (PS: Great new blog header!)
Lala - wow Sean! I just don’t know what to say! All of these.. are perfect! How I wish I could smell and hold the flowers! :’)
Tom McKibbon - I am retired. I have no comment.
melissa oholendt - CUTE. Man I wish we could do the same.
Sarah Postma - Wow, I can smell those gorgeous flowers from here. In just five photos you brought back memories of Seattle for me! I love them all, including the shot you were reluctant to take from the moving bus. Gorgeous.
s h e r r y - :) I also took few photos on my recent trip to Portland. I did mainly portraits, but it was really nice to wander around w/o a beastly camera attached to my neck! :) And Seattle is always fun!!
Adrienne Gunde - Even though I only spent about 47 minutes total in Seattle, I loved it! Such a beautiful city! And even though you only took a handful of photos, they seem to represent Seattle so perfectly :) Glad you had a great time!
Cindy - so jealous of your time together! Get some sleep silly! sounded yummy and the few pictures that you took are awesome
nicole haley - Aw, Sean, it was SUCH a treat to meet you as well. I don’t get to this side of the country often so it’s not lost on me how awesome it was that we could pull this off. Thanks so much for making the trip and I promise to clean up my act so you don’t get hassled at the border next time you visit! And, while it would be nice to have one million photos, I enjoyed just spending time and being an armchair photographer with you. :D
ashley folkema - Sounds like a very blessed trip even if it is without many pictures. Somtimes I think it can be good for the soul to forget about being a photographer. It allows you to completely submerse yourself in the moment.
Rose - Shame on you to forget about the camera. But you are forgiven for the peonies shots.
So glad to hear you had such a great time!! :)
Nicole Glenn - It’s okay to turn down the photographer in you and just live in the moment! Promise. Love that you two instantly connected, such an awesome feeling!
Alex Beadon - That first photo is amazing! I love it! Don’t worry, I think we all have those times where we just don’t feel like taking a photo.
