two chai and i

I want to be inspired. I want that feeling of inspiration flowing through me in the most unbounded sense. It’s been some time. When inspiration eludes, it’s the little things that bring warmth… like the Christmas cups at Starbucks, the oversize warm & comfy fabric chairs, and that dim coffee shop lighting on another wet Winter evening. Nothing else really mattered because it was my perfect Saturday night – me, Starbucks, my Macbook, a couple of chai lattes over several hours together. It felt perfect, and real. I’m a little things kind of guy, just the simple pleasures even I sometimes overlook. So when I can bring myself back to the place of those little things that make me feel really good, then perhaps, inspiration, I’ll see you there someday.

Because of that gorgeous & intuitive thing, this blog post has taken me well over a few hours to even get to this stage of writing it. I finally got mine, and I’ve named her Senija. And don’t tell me you haven’t named your beautiful material things either! Seriously, Macbook Pro = love of my life.

So since just about every single one of you persuasive little buggers have bothered me for more photos of my incredibly serene & beautiful new bedroom, I have a few more for you, though missing from my walls are an abundance of prints which will be coming soon! Please tell me how off my post-processing looks because I’ve decided to move to Aperture (which I am loving so far!) but there are some pretty new-feeling differences to Lightroom. And don’t even get me started on trying to use Photoshop on a Mac. Hah! I’ll get it right sooner or later, but let me know! I think I pulled back the recovery way too much in a lot of these? And I think my walls are a lot more icer bluer than in the photos! Hah!

alive & kicking – buckets of paint

Of course I’m alive & kicking, and I know many of you would like to disagree rather strongly with that statement since I’ve dropped off the face of my blog but I’m here, I promise. I’ve always valued more than anything when inspiration flows, and when it flows – it overflows. It didn’t seem that way when I was sanding what felt like every square inch of my bedroom walls two days ago, or slapping on a spectacularly dreadful coat of primer over a chocolate brown that just wouldn’t go away, but when I got to Ikea yesterday afternoon picking out, well, far more than a handful, of finishing touches for my stunning new bedroom – that’s when I knew the inspiration was lingering. And because I’m oh, so cruel, I’m only giving you two photos of my favourite indoor space in the whole world right now. Perhaps more in a little while, if you ask nicely.

Even when you look closely, I don’t think you can make out the ice blue streaks I sort of accidently gave myself with a paint brush. Absolutely, I am a professional.

This book. This book is responsible for my spending of thousands of dollars in Norway, Sweden & Finland. It’s responsible for two visits to the ICEHOTEL.
And now, without knowing it at the time, but I think subconsciously, it was responsible for all my inspiration in my beautiful new bedroom.
