mandy | joy of life

Life is for the joy of life, isn’t it? To experience joy, to live joy, to discover joy and to be that which is joy. As I was about to meet Mandy outside Yaletown Skytrain station, I sent her a text just as I arrived outside… “Blue jeans, blue coat & terrible hair.” So when she text back and said “Ditto on the hair”, I knew two things – she was more than likely a liar, and that we were going to laugh. A lot.

Despite her flat out lying to me before we’d even met, I couldn’t help but to love every second of this shoot. It was like getting together with an old friend you’d hadn’t seen in a few months, and picking up right where you last left off. If you’re here with a spare moment, I encourage you to go take a peek at her wonderful blog where there’s maybe one of the sweetest series of photographs I’ve ever seen. Seriously… right here. Go ;)

jacob | welcomed & adored

Lately, I’ve been asking myself to love a little bit more, and criticize a little bit less. I’ve been reaching more often for a place of pure unconditional love for others and myself, and no sooner does Catherine get in touch with me about her darling baby son, Jacob.

Trying to keep this post more focused about Jacob, I’ll really try not to get too deep in this but this morning meeting Jacob, and spending time with him, if only briefly, may have been one of those… enlightening/changing moments in life, where something inside clicks and you say ‘yes!‘. Yes, this is what I’ve been reaching for more and more, and I have been consciously shifting my thoughts more in the direction of loving just a little bit more and finding fault just a little bit yes. Yes, I do love seeing the evidence of that of in my life experience. And so, meet Jacob… he had my heart from the moment he opened his eyes to me. It was a feeling of overwhelming joy, and unconditional love. I know it sounds cliché, but what is life without feeling.

Jacob, welcome to Planet Earth. You are loved, and cherished.

(Photographers… all with my brand new Sigma 50 1.4! I don’t think I need to tell you how in love I am ;))

very me

Exciting news! One of my two new lenses arrived just before the weekend and I love it. So much. It hurts. Both of these taken with it, Sigma 50 1.4. Best 50 I’ve ever used. I missed this focal length. So much more to come! So, so much more!

Circumstances and events are taking place in ways that I cannot explain or find the desire to even try to justify. They are extraordinary, and it is a similiar feeling to being on the beaches of Ka’anapali on Maui and being swept up by the magnificently powerful current of the ocean and being taken toward everything you’ve ever wanted. It is life giving, for certain!

Ohh! How is it I’m always on the brink of something extraordinary? Always! Life is silly :) Enjoy it. Can you feel my friskiness? It’s almost embarrassing I’m wiggling my toes & crinkling my nose in eagerness of what’s to come!
